curlers for a cheapskate.

Retail therapy is not so therapeutic when you regret what you spend your money on. I buy things on impulse even when I try my best to control my spending. I usually spend a lot on food which would account for my excess body weight.

I went to Faceshop in Abreeza today because I wanted to buy makeup. I’ve been practicing with makeup since I completely suck it. I did the winged eye look with my crayon eyeliner, I thought I did it pretty well but then Paul burst into laughter when he saw me. So yeah, I still have a lot to learn. Hello! I can barely even out my sunblock.

I knew that their products aren’t really cheap but I thought that since they were having a sale I should just check it out to see if I could buy anything pocket-friendly. I ended up getting a gold eyelash curler which I thought costs Php 105.00 but they placed it in the wrong shelf! It actually costs Php 205.00.

It looks like this:

The Faceshop gold eyelash curler

Me: Miss, diba tag 105 lang man ni?

Saleslady: Dili Ma’am, katong isa ang tag 105.

Me: Pa tan.awa daw ko adto.

Saleslady hands it over and I see a less attractive version of this:

The Faceshop eyelash curler with rubberized grips

Me: Unsa difference ani nila?

Saleslady: Kaning isa kay gold unya ang isa rubberized, ang gold kay naa’y FACESHOP nakasulat.

***FACE PALM***

I said that I wanted to buy the cheaper version so one of the salesladies started to open up a box and I kinda felt bad that she had to go through the whole trouble of getting me an eyelash curler that wasn’t very attractive. The sample they showed me had rubberized grips that looked like they were melting. So I changed my mind and decided to buy the gold one instead because it looked more durable.

I tried it out and I’m not too crazy about it. I’m just glad it didn’t cut my eyelashes. I bought cheap eyelash curlers in the past and they cut my eyelashes so I guess this good enough.HAHA

I really wish I bought the cheap one though. I could think of a lot of things I can buy with that 100-peso difference.

On top if it, I saw an eyelash curler on Etude that only costs Php 64.00!!!

The moral of the story is: CANVASS! CANVASS! CANVASS! and yes, read beauty blogs or any product reviews. There are tons of people out there who want to share unsolicited advice and that includes MOI :D

And remember the line from Confessions of A Shopaholic: “Cost and worth are very different things.”
